By bringing together art, technology and science, STARTS4Water aims to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time: a sustainable use of water. The project will facilitate collaboration between artists, businesses, government agencies, researchers, ICT experts and other stakeholders around regional water-related challenges. STARTS4Water starts from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and in particular SDG 6 ‘Clean water and sanitation for all’ and SDG 14 ‘Life Below Water’. STARTS4Water will launch a residency program in July 2021 (exact date tbc) for 11 residencies that will give artists the opportunity to work with the experts associated with innovative companies, knowledge centers, universities etc. Water will be their common denominator, but the challenges will be rooted in the local and regional realities of the 6 consortium partners. A key mission for the STARTS4Water consortium is that sustainable water management depends on a behavioral change of the individual. To this end, STARTS4Water aims to engage and inform citizens and local communities about these common challenges through a series of public activities such as; STARTS Academy workshops, networking activities and exhibitions. As part of this project, GLUON, VLAKWA, BOZAR and LUCA School of Arts are joining forces and setting up a residency program, exhibition and various networking activities that stimulate collaboration between regional stakeholders.
