On September 11th, on the occasion of Heritage Day, we bring Entangled Landscape the most recent work of Studio Above&Below to life on the site of the Old Swimming Pool of Spiere-Helkijn. During individual try-out sessions, you can discover the digital installation and have a personal conversation with the artists about their project and work.
In recent years, the duo has created groundbreaking artworks using augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) with live data input to make the invisible visible and give our environment a voice to express itself. In this project, the artists investigate the increasing loss of our natural soil capital. This challenge inspired the artists to develop an AR experience that depicts the current quality of soil and the complex interactions taking place underground. Through this work, the artists want to offer a better understanding of the invisible life below ground and draw attention to the need for a more sustainable use of our soils as reservoirs for biodiversity.
In addition to the try-out sessions, we will also be organising a PlugNPlay Your Virtual World workshop for youngsters (aged 14 to 18 year old) on September 11th at Le Bassin. During the workshop we will introduce you to the creative possibilities of Augmented Reality. Augmented reality, abbreviated “AR” is a technology that can place digital images in the environment. Inspired by the AR performance of Studio Above&Below, and under the guidance of our AR experts, we invite the participants to create their own AR project on the site of Le Bassin during a one-hour workshop.
