PXL — MAD School of Arts Open Lab

With the exhibition Préoccupé(e), five students of PXL— MAD School of Arts Open Lab express their concern for society and nature. By means of installations, videos and performances, they convey their message through the visual, the spoken word, the tactile and the olfactory. The Open Lab studio investigates new artistic possibilities, without a specific focus on one medium or one discipline. Students explore performance, video, 3D Printing, and work with smell, taste, touch, and sound. In doing so, they collaborate with students from other disciplines within PXL, such as A.I., Robotics, Big Data, etc. Besides the experiment, the focus is on contextual work and project-based thinking, in which the student-artist develops his or her own artistic vision within a broader social reality.

Expo opening with a speech by Erwin Goegebeur — department head PXL MAD School of Arts and Christophe De Jaeger — director of GLUON, the 25th of March at 6pm. Afterwards, the installation will be on display from March the 26th until April the 3th, during the weekends (12pm-6pm).

Participating students of Open Lab are Emine Cerkinaj, Casper Engels, Milan Gillard, Lune Marchal and Flore Van Gorp. Image (left & right), Millan Gillard, Home base & Bureau — Emine Cerkinaj, Is there time enough, 2021.
