Gluon presents New Metabolism, a two-day symposium exploring the interactions of humans and machines. Part of the European Digital Deal—a three-year Creative Europe initiative—this event brings together over 15 European cultural organizations and 20 artists to examine how to be human in the ages of machines.

The program features inspiring talks, panel discussions, workshops, and social events, highlighting technologies like AI, machine learning, blockchain, and algorithmic processing.

Keynote 2: Thierry Dufrêne, Art historian  & curator,  introduction to Intelligence, it’s automatic: from surrealism to AI

Opening The Falling City at Gluon (5pm)

Gluon’s newest commission The Falling City by Noémi Iglesias Barrios involves training an Al system into emotional recognition by measuring the levels of affective display in the public space to see how the emotions can be affected by the structures of urban environments, moving towards an intimate, localised, and relational perspective on the use of surveillance cameras.

Within the context of Art Brussels, Gluon is happy to invite you to the artist talk of David Claerbout talking about his experiences and visions on art and technology with his project the The Wood Carver & The Forest realised during a residency at Gluon within the framework of S+T+ARTS In The City project and with the support of Proximus, The National Lottery, Innoviris and the European Commission
