STARTS Lab in Fablab Brussels
With 182 different nationalities, Brussels is the most cosmopolitan city of Europe, and after Dubai, the second in the world! With such a melting pot of cultures, Brussels is certainly a vibrant place to live. But how can we bring together all these diverse ethnic backgrounds and life experiences? Can we invent something to encourage the various users of public space to meet, talk, and get to know each other better? The Gluon Summer Lab wants to take on this challenge.
During the summer lab, we’ll work together with artists and technologists to redesign public spaces and create alternative meeting places for Brussels to help bring people together. In the Fablab of the Erasmushogeschool, we’ll realize our ideas with laser cutters, 3D printers, Arduino, virtual reality, and more. Do you think a futuristic musical instrument would help people relate to each other? Do you want to build a bench for people to sit on? Do you think a high-tech dance floor would do the trick? Or would you rather work with sounds from nature or conversations in different languages in a trans-cultural or cross-generational project?
Are you ready to take on this challenge?
