Ready for the future? Want to discover the new trends in science, biology, digital technologies and art?
Gluon wants to get young people familiar with innovative technologies, revolutionary scientific findings and contemporary art in a critical and playful way. You can choose a theme (either BIO or TECH), and Gluon will come ready with an arsenal of material to your class, youth house, sociocultural association or library to give a custom pop-up demonstration.
During our pop-up demonstrations, we stimulate the senses by taking students ages 12 to 18 on a magical and interactive journey of discovery through new digital and scientific innovations, always relating these technologies and research findings back to young people’s daily life. They learn not only to be media savvy, but also other important competencies, like creativity, technical skills, taking initiative, collaboration, exploration and critical thinking.
Did you know that bacteria are everywhere? During the bio pop-up, the students will discover some of the endless applications of these microorganisms. They’ll investigate bacteria on their smartphones and in the class, thereby learning the basic techniques of swabbing and biological research. We’ll later use their findings to build up a database for further research. Furthermore, they will explore the many artistic uses of biology, including bacteria leather, and will think critically over further possibilities for the future.
During the tech pop-up, young people discover the wonders of the newest technologies and will participate in a series of mini demos. They come in contact with digital arts, experience augmented reality with the HoloLens and artificial intelligence with Amazon’s Alexa, try out our virtual reality glasses, and discover the playful applications of the alternative keyboard, Makey Makey. After the demos, we initiate a number of critical discussions about the use of technology in society.
